Winter Poems

Image

no fear

in the fearless depths
of winter-thin sleep

dream

under freezing purple shadows
of snow-burdened eaves

dream

in the howling hunger
of thickening hips

dream, and

turn your pale attentive face
into the sickle wind

thistle
blanket your barbs with
the softness of snow, sleeping
you will bloom again

tanka-
ruby-light portal
beckoning shine, radiate
a crystal-rose blaze
illuminates gauzy clouds
a promise warming the sky
